What is a HR Business Partner?
The HR Business Partner role has gained prominence in the past decade, with many large MNCs in industries such as technology, design and more opening up HR Business Partner Roles.
The HR Business Partner role is strategic, data-driven, and is focused on strategic function. They usually work with various department managers to develop a plan to hire the right people with the right skills needed specifically for a job opening in that area.
A HR Business partner may or may not be in charge of the daily HR operations (such as claim, leave, time and attendance etc) of a company.
Difference between HR Manager and HR Business Partner
In essence, a HR Manager is usually in charge of the company’s operations whereas a HR Business partner is usually in charge of the company’s strategic direction when it comes to employee relations and developing a HR plan that aligns with the organisation’s goals.
Is a HR business partner above a HR manager?
The simple answer is that if a company has both a HR business partner and a HR manager,they are both senior roles that require some experience and have different focuses.
It is likely that both roles are combined into one or both roles have a HR director above them, that directs the entire HR strategic vision.
